It is a waste of points and cards when compared to the versatility and power that a unit of line infantry, skirmishers or cavalry give at a lower cost. Cannons are little more than a liability. When you get better at the game and you have good micro managements skills Artillery becomes irrelevant.

Persia is a faction, though it is not playable.
There are several Muslim nations – they are the Barbary States, Morroco, Ottoman Empire, Dagestan, Persia and the Mughal Empire. I believe there are also a few more which may emerge through rebellions. One such nation is Egypt.
